The first edition of this iconic and ground-breaking book won a Whitley Silver Medal Award for the best Australian book on Zoology in 2013.

Due to major recent taxonomic revisions, this Third Edition is a completely updated version, incorporating 21 newly created genera, 10 new species and one new subspecies of tree frogs alone, plus six new species, one new subspecies and many other additions and revisions to genera in other families. All these changes have meant the book has had to expand, while the total number of Australian frog species has increased to 264, plus six subspecies.
