At the end of a long and useful life, Penelope Keeling's prized possession is "The Shell Seekers," painted by her father, and symbolizing her unconventional life, from bohemian childhood to wartime romance. When her grown children learn their grandfather's work is now worth a fortune, each has an idea as to what Penelope should do. But as she recalls the passions, tragedies, and secrets of her life, she knows there is only one answer...and it lies in her heart.

disappointed with the quality of the book itself

I bought this book as I already had a copy and wanted one for a gift. This copy is smaller, the paper quality is flimsy and the text is minute. It is very disappointing and I won't be giving it as a gift. I am told to return it I need to purchase bubble wrap and a postage box and pay return postage. I regret the purchase.

An engaging peek into a life well lived

I really enjoyed this story - the story of the rich tapestry that could be any woman's life. Penelope's story and the characters of her family are all people we can relate to. One of the more pleasant books I've read in a while, the kind you would recommend to the elder women in your family. I'll be checking out more of Rosamund's novels.
