Rocket Science for Babies by Chris Ferrie is an introduction to aerospace engineering (also known as rocket science).
Baby will learn the principles of lift and thrust, the forces responsible for flight.
This is the first in a series of books designed to stimulate your baby and introduce them to the world of science.
Also coming in May are:
Newtonian Physics for Babies
General Relativity for Babies
Quantum Physics for Babies
About the Author
Chris Ferrie is a physicist, mathematician and father of three budding young scientists. He obtained his doctorate in Mathematical Physics from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Canada and currently holds a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Chris believes it is never too early to introduce children to the wild and wonderful world of physics!
I gave this book to my new grandson because his parents like to read to him. They will take the time to make this book come alive even though it's about a complex topic. I would be selective about who I would give this book to.
I will buy the Entire Series !
Saw the book series reviewed in the daily paper. Thought, This is an ideal present for our 2yo grandson -- because the Rocket Science concept will make his parents smile. Book arrived, I read it, thought, Yes, the parents will enjoy this. The toddler won't have a clue what it's about.
Nana read the book to the toddler. A bit later -- he brought the book back, asking for it to be read again... Then later, again ! We're not sure how much our 2yo is understanding from the book -- but he is definitely *enjoying* reading it! Amazing ! Excellent :-)
We're happy to read happy stories, animal stories, lessons about life stories, pointless stories... All are part of helping a toddler towards reading -- whatever he likes -- for himself. I'm pleased to find a toddler-level book about "real" science and no. I'm definitely not a Rocket Scientist. I'm amazed -- and extra pleased -- to find that the Rocket Science book is so well written...
I'll be looking for more in the series.

Rocket Science for Babies
"Simple illustrations and simple explanations to launch your future rocket scientist." - NPR, Science Friday "Start 'em young with this STEM-centric board-book that promotes science literacy" - Los Angeles Times "Physicist and father Chris Ferrie knows it's never too soon to learn Newton's three laws of motion or Einstein's theory of general relativity. His board books are illustrated with eye-catching graphics for baby geniuses and written with a tongue in cheek humour for their adult friends, who might also learn a thing or two about aerospace engineering." - Plenty Magazine "The title page says it all. A rocket soother! Your child will learn the basics of rocket science and Chris Ferried does not disappoint. How does a ball move? Can air go around it? What happens if we change the angle of the ball? Where does the shape go? Your little one will learn what happens when a wing has lift and the simple illustrations do not disappoint. A brief explanation of fuel for a rocket ship will send your child tumbling into the fascinating world of rocket science. Your budding scientist will love the simple explanations of complicated concepts." - TheBabySpot.CA "The Baby University board-book series is designed to teach infants about the most fundamental basics of science. This series is entirely age-appropriate and baby-accessible, featuring bright colors and simple sentence structure; it's just that instead of teaching words like "hippopotamus" they teach words like "electron." A wonderful way to help stimulate interest in math and science from an extremely early age, the Baby University series is highly recommended, especially for library collections intended for pre-Kindergarten children." - Midwest Book Review "Whether you're expecting an amazing bundle of joy, or already have one or more, these new books by Chris Ferrie are perfect" - Kelly's Thoughts on Things "In this board book series, Ferrie makes his knowledge accessible to the youngest of readers--and probably some adults, too... the subject material will certainly be enjoyable for trendy caretakers to read aloud. (And the pictures of babies chewing on the covers are going to be #instaworthy.)" - Shelf Awareness for Reader "Lively explorations of physics, technology, and space." - School Library Journal
