What If 'The One' ...isn't?

After meeting the gorgeous and charismatic Simon, Georgia Cassimatis swaps her fabulous life in Sydney for Los Angeles — risking it all for a chance at love. Georgia soon finds out, however, that Simon is not the man he seemed to be, and she has left her entire world behind for a loveless marriage with a man who is intent on making her miserable.

LA is a tough town — especially for a girl with no friends, no money and no job. But Georgia finds her way through the liars, fakes and cheats to become a successful celebrity journalist and soon realises she's fallen in love again — this time with her new home town...LA!

Industry Reviews

“This book should be called 'DANGER: HIGHLY EXPLOSIVE' because it’s going to blow you away!!!!” — Arj Barker, Comedian

Great easy entertaining read

For anyone who has lived overseas this is the book. I laughed, cringed and thought at times Georgia had jumped into my own head.

Disappointing read

I was really disappointed with this book. As another reviewer pointed out, there are grammatical and spelling mistakes on just about every page. It is very clunky to read and it seems to have not been edited at all. The narrative does not flow and the only potentially interesting part of this book (her work in interviewing celebrities) is skimmed over in favour of the lowlights of her romantic life. Don't bother!

Don't judge a book by its cover

This book is really badly written. I find it hard to believe that the author makes a living as a journalist. The plot is minimal and there are many grammatical mistakes. In some instances there are words missing from sentences or used mistakenly. No-one seems to have proof read this book, let alone edited it, prior to publication.

Not as burning hot as one would like.

I wanted to like this book, but I really struggled with it. It suffers greatly from poor editing and bad grammatical choices that ultimately create very jarring paragraphs. This often results in a reader being forced to re-read sections multiple times to ascertain meaning, and it really detracts from a good narrative flow. I disliked Simon, both the catalyst for and antagonist of the whole story, but I also didn't particularly like the protagonist. This is a problem. Her characterisation was quite unclear and the reasons for her choices often seemed ridiculous, so it was very hard to empathise with her as a character. I am not surprised to see that the author has come from a background in magazine work, as this informal, conversational style of writing seems far better suited to a series of articles in a magazine, as opposed to one single published novel.
