The most talked-about memoir of 2015 - now in paperback.

What does it mean to feel truly alive?

Aged 24, Matt Haig's world caved in. He could see no way to go on living. This is the true story of how he came through crisis, triumphed over an illness that almost destroyed him and learned to live again.

A moving, funny and joyous exploration of how to live better, love better and feel more alive, Reasons to Stay Alive is more than a memoir. It is a book about making the most of your time on earth.

I wrote this book because the oldest cliches remain the truest. Time heals. The bottom of the valley never provides the clearest view. The tunnel does have light at the end of it, even if we haven't been able to see it . . . Words, just sometimes, really can set you free.

Matt Haig is the bestselling author of five novels, including The Humans, The Radleys and The Last Family in England. He has also written award-winning children's books. His work has been translated into 30 languages. He grew up in Nottinghamshire and now lives in Brighton.

Eye-opening, informative, expert inside-view of Depression

Thank you Matt Haig! I will re-read again and again and recommend to clients and other practitioners. By far the most informative, eye-opening resource I have ever read on the subjective experience of Depression. Beautifully written, accessible, inspiring and moving. Should be mandatory reading for ..... everyone.

Life changing

This book is amazing. Easy to read and so authentic. Fresh perspective that is so relatable. Found myself saying 'im not the only one!' I bought a copy for myself and have since bought 3 more copies as gifts.

Matt just hits the spot!! I first bought and read this book while in a mental ward and like every word pretty much became a quote that was stuck around my room. It's just so inspiring and like it makes me feel so hopeful knowing someone else out there understands the little things that I though made me crazy haha

definite must read for everyone

I brought this book after my sister being diagnosed with depression. It helped me understand what may be going through her head, and it was so informative and the stories were so real. 10/10 would recommend to everyone.
