About the Author

Tara Mardigan, MS, MPH, RD is a registered dietitian in Boston with 17 years of experience. In addition to her private practice clients, she has been the team nutritionist for the World Champion Boston Red Sox since 2006. She is credited for helping change the culture of the Red Sox to use healthy food (not supplements) as an edge to athletic performance, injury prevention and ongoing success. She is an expert at helping athletes and clients with sustainable lifestyle change or 'upgrades'.Tara has a bachelor's degree in nutrition from the University of New Hampshire and she completed her dietetic internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Tara has master of science and master of public health degrees from Tufts University with a focus on nutrition communication.

She has combined her strongly holistic mentality with the reality of what actually works and what is convenient for a time-pressed, busy athlete. Kate is an elite triathlete who has completed 5 full distance Ironman races, a countless number of triathlons, and more than 10 marathons.
