Practical Self Sufficiency is a wonderfully useful and accessible book that contains something for absolutely everyone!

This fully updated guide offers clear step-by-step information in classic DK style and offers a greater focus on the issues surrounding sustainable living for those living in urbanised parts of Australia (approximately half the population) and 'living small'. With practical advice on reducing your carbon footprint, growing and making your own, community gardening, design options for energy saving and retrofitting, and doing more with less.

With authoritative advice, step-by-step guidance, and fascinating illustrations, Practical Self Sufficiency will help you make simple changes that can have a major impact on your life and reduce your impact on the planet.

Fantastic Overview of Homestead Living

Great book about self-sufficiency with an Australian focus. It was refreshing to find gardening information that I knew would apply in our Australia climate! Includes information ranging from how build your home to be low energy with renewables, how to increase biodiversity in your garden and do permaculture, to how to plant, look after and harvest a wide variety of veges, fruit and nuts/grains, information on animal husbandry and slaughter/preparation for cooking, and even includes information on how to make your own cheese/yogurt/butter, bread, preserves, medicinal tinctures/infusions, woodworking, basket weaving, and natural no-energy cooking. Includes both general information and procedures for specific projects. Love Love Love.
