Product Description

From lap pools to ocean pools, rockpools to hot springs, Places We Swim covers the breadth of Australia, bringing you the 60 best places to swim, dive, jump, paddle and float around the country.

You'll discover just what makes each swimming spot unique, learn the best time to go, gain some useful local knowledge and find out the best things to see and do in the area. With destinations ranging from the neighbourhood city pool to remote outback waterfalls, this book is a celebration of not just these magnificent swimming spots, but of the diverse landscapes and communities that make up Australia.

About the Author

Dillon Seitchik-Reardon is an environmental scientist, author, photographer and video producer originally from New Mexico, USA. In one way or another, his work is always about helping people return to nature. Dillon has worked extensively with the Little Veggie Patch Co. to encourage city dwellers to grow food, and has co-authored two books on the topic: DIY Garden Projects (2016) and Grow. Food. Anywhere (2017). He has now launched Places We Swim with Caroline Clements, and together they are exploring Australian identity through the places we swim.

Places we swim - Australia

5

As we are currently travelling around Australia in our caravan we will attempt to swim at all places recommended in the book. Some notable exceptions in the book were Salmon Bay on Rottnest Island WA which is a beautiful beach with excellent snorkelling. Additionally, Cossies Beach on Direction Island in the Cocos Keeling Islands is another picture perfect beach with an awesome "Rip" snorkel.

Not really useful.

Most places are so obvious, save for 2 or 3 spots, which are now going to be ruined with the influx of tourists this book will create.

Disappointing picture quality

This is definitely not the coffee table book I had envisaged. The quality of the photos is poor, matte printing, washed-out colours and low resolution. Such a shame when many of the places are so amazing. I've been to many of them and have my own happy snaps that are superior....
