Industry Reviews

Fabulous book - Good Housekeeping

Simple food in a way that is undeniably Ottolenghi - in other words beautiful and delicious - Evening Standard

Simple, proves that taking a less complicated approach to cooking needn't mean losing out on flavour. Try these new recipes for an easier route to mealtime nirvana - Delicious magazine

[Yotam Ottolenghi's] latest title, Ottolenghi Simple is a thrill. I particularly adored the pasta with pecorino and pistachios, lamb with almonds and orange blossom, and baked rice with tomato confit and garlic. Many of the recipes have fewer than 10 ingredients and can be made in under 30 minutes. While a lot of cookbooks meet these criteria, few have Mr. Ottolenghi's far-ranging flair - Melissa Clark, New York Times

Fantastic. Scintillating flavours . . . dishes you can cook with ease.- Diana Henry, Sunday Telegraph

A must have for your collection.

Really great cookbook for when you're pressed for time!

Really great cookbook with a wide variety of easy to follow recipes. Perfect for last minute, quick and simple dinners. Only con is that sometimes measurements are off. The first few recipes I made were really lacking in flavour. An easy fix, just double most of the spices, sauces and seasoning for each recipe and you'll be fine!

Very tasty recipes

5

After reading some other reviews, I decided to buy this book and to take a chance with some of the recipes that I would not normally think to cook myself. I have a fussy teenage son who is very adverse to trying something new and even he has to admit that most of the time he actually enjoys the meal!! This has become a go to cook book for me.

Modern Cookery at it's best.

Having bought simple one is tempted to buy his other publications. My daughters & grand daughters in particular, can't wait to try his recipes. His recipes, especially for vegetables, are outstanding.

Best cookbook I own!

5

I own a fair few cookbooks and I was gifted this one for Christmas. It is hands down the best cook book I own! I have already made about 8 of the different recipes for raw and cooked veg and have been amazed at how delicious the food is. It always looks like the picture in the book. The ingredients used are fairly simple, except for a few recipes that need black garlic, but for the most part they call for standard ingredients that are readily available in most supermarkets. We have been blown away with how good this food tastes. It is a book that makes both the cooking and eating process enjoyable! HIGHLY recommend!

About the Author

Yotam Ottolenghi is an acclaimed chef, food writer and restaurateur. He is the owner of four incredibly successful ‘Ottolenghi’ deli/restaurants in central London as well as his new restaurant venture, NOPI in Soho.

Yotam Ottolenghi is an acclaimed chef, food writer and restaurateur. He was born and raised in Jerusalem, the son of an Italian father and German mother and had always been expected to follow his father into the world of academia. However, when Yotam first came to England in 1998 he took an unexpected turn, and aged 30 decided to indulge his lifelong love of food by studying at the Cordon Bleu.

He began his career as a chef in the pastry department of The Capital Restaurant in Knightsbridge, moving on to become head pastry chef at Baker and Spice. It was here that he met Sami Tamimi, a Palestinian chef with whom he created ‘Ottolenghi’. It started as a small stylish deli in Notting Hill, but soon became a phenomenon. Following the publication of his first cookery book ‘Ottolenghi’, which drew on the inspirational and innovative food served at his chain of delis, his success went global.

Yotam is now the owner of four incredibly successful ‘Ottolenghi’ deli/restaurants in central London as well as his new restaurant venture, NOPI in Soho. He is a regular contributor to The Guardian, author of bestselling cookbooks and a regular face on television.

Yotam made his TV debut in the critically acclaimed BBC documentary ‘Jerusalem on a Plate’, winner of the Kate Whiteman Award for Work on Food and Travel at the Guild of Food Writers Awards.
