I was kissed by a demi-god in a suit. The whole world saw it. And now I'm on the run. I only went to Los Angeles to support my best friend on her first big movie set. Blinding lights. Cameras rolling. Her big break. Giovanni Sabatelli wasn't supposed to notice me. Studio owner. Empire builder. The man who makes Hollywood heartthrobs nervous. His actors couldn't get the kissing scene right. So he walked toward me instead. Stopped inches away. Lifted my chin with two fingers. "Like this."
My body forgot how to stand. The cameras were still rolling. So was the damage. I didn't wait for it to go viral. I grabbed my sister—and ran. What he doesn't know? I've spent five years hiding my little sister from a man who would burn the world to get us back. We almost make it. Until the car jerks to a stop. I look up—and Giovanni Sabatelli is standing on the hood. Not angry. Not apologetic. Possessive. If he found me that fast—the man I've been running from will too.
Lunch becomes a private jet to New York. Once he learns why I was running, he takes it personally. He exposed me. Now he's vowing to protect me—from my past, from his enemies, from the future he was promised. His penthouse becomes my refuge. His bed becomes my weakness. For the first time in five years . . . I sleep. For a moment, I almost believe we're safe. Until I reach into my purse in Central Park. The note pressed between my wallet and my phone says: I'M WATCHING YOU. And the man hunting us didn't come all this way to warn me. He came to take what's his. By the time Giovanni understands what that means—it's too late.
