    Comments about Numerical Street:

My 3-year-old son really loves this book. It's a little different to other books for young readers and I think that is what makes Numerical Street so appealing. Recommended.

Great resource for introducing how to use quality literature with adult learners as early years teachers.

        Comments about Numerical Street:

I purchased this book as our 5 yr old loves numbers. On first reading this book I thought it may be to old for a 5 and 7 year old to appreciate as some of the content referenced older style terminology. Initially, both children paid a bit of interest to the book mainly because of the rhyming but didn't finish the story. (I think they were tired and distracted).
We revisited the book about 2 weeks later and it was complete success. Both children were immediately engaged in the story and loved finding the numbers on each page and counting the groups of objects. It is a very clever book to join story telling (literacy skills) with numbers (numeracy skills) as it doesn't feel like you are 'teaching'. Both children spent a good hour on this book trying to find the hidden object, the next number, look at all the illustrations and read the book again. It gave me the opportunity to explain some objects that they were not familiar with and a discussion on how it used to be. There is a lot in this book (we kept finding new things) and it makes for a lovely opportunity to spend some quality time with children. It is also suitable to read alone.
