A book for anyone whose dad has made them laugh – or cringe!

My dad doesn’t like babysitting. He says no one should sit on babies. My dad doesn’t eat seafood. He says there’s something fishy about it. My dad doesn’t lie in bed. He says you should always tell the truth. My dad thinks he’s funny.

About the Author

Katrina Germein began writing books by accident when a story in her head wouldn’t go away. She wrote it down to set it free. This story went on to become Katrina’s first picture book Big Rain Coming. Katrina has continued to write books for children ever since, including the highly popular My Dad Thinks He’s Funny. She lives in Adelaide with three children, one husband (who thinks he’s funny) and a black and white dog named Sunny.

About the Illustrator

Tom Jellett’s books have included: Hot Stuff by Margaret Clark, Fuzz the Famous Fly by Emily Rodda, and Australia at the Beach, a picture book by Max Fatchen. Tom now lives in Sydney and works as an illustrator for The Australian.

Great gift

Great funny story for young kids. I gave this to my son when he became a Dad for the first time - he likes to make wisecracks and thinks they are funny so this was the perfect tongue in cheek gift!

I laughed my head off when i first heard this being read to a group of school children. It was a book full of funny things that my dad said to me and my husband now says to our children. Everyone will find something to relate to in this hilarious story.

One for the kids learning to read !

My grandson is just starting to read and really loved all the old gags most of us heard about that stage in our lives. He worked his way through, with some help; then reread the book, loudly declaiming all the bits that he found very funny.

More a series of 'Dad-isms'than a story but entertaining to see familiar lines.

This book was funny and obviously aimed at the littlies but this granny enjoyed it and passed it on to my granddaughter who works with Special Needs chilren in the hope that they may get some giggles out of it, too.

I liked the book it brought back memories of what my dad said to me as I was growing up but this book is not something I would sit down and read to my child every day over and over again.

My son enjoyed it immensely

I brought the book for my 10 year old son. He really enjoyed it and could connect with the sayings as he has heard most of them from me time and again. I would suggest it would be a good present for children of 10 or slightly younger.

I bought this book as a gift for my young nieces and nephews as it is typical of their Dad and probably dads everywhere. We all had a good laugh as we read it.
