Excellent, authoritative information

As an aspiring songwriter/composer and producer wanting to produce my own production music as well as co-write with lyricists to pitch songs to artists through music publishers, I found 36 of the 38 chapters in this 700-page book relevant to my interests. The information on copyright and writing with others, on session musicians and their rights, the sample consent form for session musicians to sign, and the look at typical publishing contract clauses, are among the set of information from this book that equip me to create my own agreements to sign with co-writers and safely navigate all the way from writing to recording demos and providing them to publishers, as well as being ready to agree with co-writers on types of licensed use for our works. My only disappointment was not finding anything specific on how co-writers normally pay for demos, especially if one of the writers creates and produces the demo. But this is a small thing in light of the masses of useful information, including the numerous chapters on record companies and record deals from the recording artist's perspective, the way collection societies work and the examples of how income flows through the industry.
