More than the Game: Building Relationships for a Winning Culture is a fictionalized memoir in which Coach Warrington finds himself struggling. At the end of another long season, he's lost the locker room after several defeats. Worried about his team's record, he vents at his players, saying that they should "commit to getting bigger, stronger, and faster, or they might as well quit." When the Titans lose their final game, the school's athletic director suggests that Coach Warrington meet with a mentor to improve the program's culture. At first, Warrington is offended-he can't admit to needing help, but he also can't resist the opportunity to regain his edge, so he agrees to meet once a week with Mitchell McClellen, a retired teacher and ball coach. Mitchell shares his three-phase formula for winning: The Process of the 'Ship. Coach Warrington learns to view success as more about legacy than just winning. Can Coach Warrington heed his mentor's advice and change his program forever?

I enjoyed this easy-to-read book about becoming a great leader. If you are a person in any type of leadership role, coach, teacher, business, youth group, etc., this book can help you become the leader you always wanted to be. I also think this would be a great book for athletes and students to read to learn the value of leadership roles. I believe that, as a society, we have lost the art of teaching/coaching the whole student/athlete-mind, heart, and body. As teachers and coaches, we need to remember to take care of the whole person we are leading, and this book reminds us to do just that! Loved the book and took a lot of good information from it to use in my everyday life! Thank you, Mr. Torrey.

In today's world we hear more and more about developing a healthy culture whether in the workplace, sports, or everyday life. This book is an excellent read giving pointers on how to develop that culture. I love football and especially enjoyed how the author applied this all by using an example of a football team and their coach and how one mentor changed their whole season. This is an excellent book for anyone and everyone.

An ELITE book for culture building and leadership within a program. I am so happy found this book. There is a ton of tangible things I will utilize within my own program that I have gotten from this book. Would recommend to anyone looking to improve their team's culture.
