Michael Morgan RI has built a reputation as one of the country's most popular and innovative painters in watercolour. The extraordinary images he creates have struck a universal chord with collectors and lovers of art, so much so that his exhibitions invariably sell out within hours of opening. His paintings are held in private and public collections nationally and internationally, and have illustrated, or been featured in, numerous publications, among them Michael Morgan RI and 80 @ 80 - The Paintings of Michael Morgan RI.
He has based his approach to picture making on Goethe's simple advice that the art of painting is to see beyond the everyday familiar vision of things. Michael is a Member of the prestigious Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and a Founding Academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. He holds both the RI Medal for his outstanding work as well as their Roland Hilder Landscape Prize. He has been invited to show his work in London at the watercolour exhibition at the Royal Academy and at the Royal Watercolour Society, as well as exhibiting annually at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours.
His work is represented by the prestigious gallery Marine House at Beer and every one of his solo exhibitions held there since 1998, has been a sell out; a remarkable feat by any standards. His work is in private collections throughout the UK and internationally.
