This is an authorized biography of an accomplished and greatly-loved man - a figure who left his mark on the Church, in the academic world, in scientific institutions, and in the lives of countless people who enjoyed his friendship. Bishop, Antarctic explorer, geologist, sportsman, naval chaplain, and pacifist, Fleming helped to found VSO, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, the Prince's Trust and the University of East Anglia. Much of the contemporary debate taking place between science and theology can be traced to his thought and initiative. Giles Hunt served as Bishop's Chaplain to him in both Portsmouth and Norwich. He is a contributor to Theology and New Fire and lives in North Norfolk.
