I loved this book. It took me a more than a few pages to get into it but when I did I couldn't put it down. It is beautifully written. Some of the scenes that the author was describing in the book I could actually picture. In places it has a little padding but you can overlook that in what is generally a wonderful reading experience. Its story of magic, war, love, mystery and betrayal. One of the main characters in the book we never know his name. I cannot remember if I have struck that in a book before but we are left in doubt as to what he is about. I think the author handles this character beautifully and with great skill. I cannot say much more unless I let out spoilers. Some of the books I buy I pass on but not this one - its a keeper.
