"International Politics in Europe" examines the broad field of European politics in the period following the end of the Cold War. The contributors argue that the collapse of the two superpower blocs which dominated the continent has brought an end to the old preoccupation with military security. Current analyses of Europe demand an approach to the continent as an interdependent whole rather than as divided by East and West.
The book focuses on the links between four issues: economic development, security, the environment, and human rights. Although these issues existed during the Cold War, they were subordinated to the ideological division of the continent. Now they have emerged as decisive issues for the way Europe will develop. The contributors examine the system, state and individual levels of analysis on which these problems exist.
Contributors: Adrian Hyde-Price, David Sadler, David Armstrong, Stuart Croft, Colin McInnes, R. J. Barry Jones, Joanna Spear, and Nicholas Wheeler.
