If you see a cuddly kitten, say ahhh!
If you see a dozy doormouse, say shhh!
But what if you see a scary spider?
Or a crotchety crocodile?
Come and meet all these wonderful animals and more in this beautiful book by top wildlife illustrator John Butler. Printed on sturdy card pages, this is a book that will be returned to time and again.
This is a cheerful book for toddlers who will enjoy joining in and gradually anticipating the responses. The ginger kitten of the front cover introduces the format: 'If you see a cuddly kitten.... Say ahhh!'. There follows a sequence of creatures with appropriate reader responses ('Ouch!?', 'Yukk!' and so on). The book is beautifully produced and builds suspense as each page is turned. John Butler has used full-page illustrations and a suitably repetitive text to introduce animals both familiar and hair-raisingly new. The book builds to a climax with the shout for 'Help!' as we approach the 'crotchety crocodile'. It's great fun and parents will be lucky to get away with one reading. Fortunately this picture book is robust as well as attractive. Ages 2-4 (Kirkus UK)
