A startlingly honest account of experiencing war and terrorism from the frontline by Peter Stefanovic, one of Australia's leading journalists and foreign correspondents.

'Flak jackets are dreadful things. Sure, they have a purpose, and if one ever stopped a bullet or piece of shrapnel from spearing into my vital organs, I would kiss it, hang it up, and frame it. But that hasn't happened, yet.'

For almost ten years Peter Stefanovic was Channel Nine's foreign correspondent in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. During that time he witnessed more than his fair share of death and destruction, and carried the burden of those images - all while putting his own personal safety very much in the firing line.

From flak jackets to tuxedos. From celebrity funerals, to war zones and natural disasters. This is a thrilling account of a life lived on camera, delivering the news wherever it happens, whatever the risk.

About the Author

Peter Stefanovic was the Europe, Africa, and Middle East correspondent for the Nine Network. He reported from the scene of major news events around the world for NINE NEWS, the TODAY SHOW, and A CURRENT AFFAIR. In 2014 Peter Stefanovic was nominated for a Walkley Award for his coverage of the war in Gaza. He is currently the co-host of WEEKEND TODAY.

Great Book

I really enjoyed this book, it was a well-written behind the scenes account of the life of a foreign correspondent.

A good read

Entertaining and informative read from a journos perspective on past world events

Wow, I certainly take my hat off to Peter and all journalists and crew who put their lives on the line in order to inform us of what is really happening. I tried to imagine how I would feel in Peter's place. Honestly, I really do not believe I could do what he does. It's nice to view things from a different view. Well done Peter, I hope you can write more books like this one.

Engaging and a fantastic read

Who knew...bought this book because I liked his reporting back in the day...it is a great book...riveting and suspenseful...he is also quite funny and seems happy to have joke even if it is on him...refreshing. I will need to read again, such a page turner that I don't want to have missed anything.

Outstanding Book From Peter Stefanovic

For a first time at being an author, Peter Stefanovic has done an outstanding job. Hack in Flack Jacket was very well written and kept me fully engaged while reading. Pete's story of actual events has expanded on what we hear on the news. In fact, it has shown me how little I knew and understood of what was happening, particularly in the Middle East. I highly recommend this page turner to all readers. The book is informative, gives a good understanding of what happens behind the scenes and is also very witty.
