Green Nomads is a celebration of Australia's wilderness areas, and we surely have something to celebrate. The landscape and close-up photographs of Australia's natural landscape are ethereal yet familiar, calming yet powerful. Paired with Bob's personal and insightful anecdotes, there is not doubt that this book will appeal to travellers, tourists, conservationists and all those that enjoy the wilderness.

About the Author

Bob Brown was born in Oberon, New South Wales and moved to Tasmania in the 1970s. He worked for many years as a medical practitioner, and was a founding member and director of the Wilderness Society. From 1983 to 1993 he held a seat in Tasmania's House of Assembly and in 1996 he was elected to the Australian Senate. He has won many awards for his work, including the 1987 United Nations Environment Program Global 500 Award, and the 1990 Goldman Environmental Prize. In 1996 the BBC's Wildlife magazine named him the World's Most Inspiring Politician.

A nice, not great, travel memoir.

I bought this book sight-unseen and was surprised to find it to be more of a printed slide show of Bob Brown's travels than a well considered narrative from a well-known environmentalist and politician. The promotional copy suggests that the book holds "Photography paired with Bob's personal and insightful anecdotes." What is not told is that those insights are no more than extended captions to his personal photography. The photography is good, some is better than good but little is exceptional as one might expect from a real "coffee-table" book. I know this is a tough review and I am sure many readers will appreciate it and its style and format. It's just not what I was looking for or expected.

Green Nomads excellent pictures & description of places

Great photography

I very much appreciate owning this lovely book. The photos are good, the narrative better. The sort of book you leave out in the loungeroom for visitors to pick over. Really nice.
