The book traces the history of the people of Gonja (Ngbanye) from their original home in Mande in Modern Mali to their present home in Northern Ghana. An important feature of this book is that it also touches, albeit briefly on the history and relationships of the neighbours of Gonja in the northern Region and the other parts of Ghana.
The author is greatly indebted to the J.A.Brimah; a veteran writer of the history of Gonjas and the many old men and women who are living libraries of our history as recorded by word of mouth.
