Great book - it was absolutely devoured, you'll find yourself lost in the world and absorbing it fairly rapidly. Similar in composition to Jim's other book "The Aeronauts Windlass" follows multiple characters sometimes backtracking slightly to offer differing perspective. A word of warning though, this book does contain sexual scenes - some unconventional relationships (Open relationships, borderline nymphomania) which are fine and all however there are a few chapters dealing with forced (Booktopia won't let you use the R word) or sexual slavery, a very uncomfortable look at the psychology of such a situation aswell - if that would distress you (it did for my friend, she kept reading but skimmed those scenes). I'm still on the fence about those chapters, on one hand they really established strength in some of our female characters and really upped the revulsion at a minor villain. So if this is a gift for a younger reader i'd suggest reading it yourself first and then making a judgement call.
