THE APPRENTICESHIP IS OVER — NOW THE REAL TEST HAS BEGUN.

When word that Yelena is a Soulfinder — able to capture and release souls — spreads like wildfire, people grow uneasy. Already Yelena’s unusual abilities and past have set her apart. As the Council debates Yelena’s fate, she receives a disturbing message: a plot is rising against her homeland, led by a murderous sorcerer she has defeated before...

Honour sets Yelena on a path that will test the limits of her skills, and the hope of reuniting with her beloved spurs her onward. Her journey is fraught with allies, enemies, lovers and would-be assassins, each of questionable loyalty. Yelena will have but one chance to prove herself — and save the land she holds dear.

From the award-winning author of Poison Study and Magic Study comes a stunning new chapter in a brilliantly imagined epic of magical empires besieged by deadly conflict…

    Comments about Fire Study:

Snyder has managed to create an enticing world within the Study series, one that I often find myself wanting to engage in again and again. The characters are original in their personalities and the relationships Snyder creates with the reader and the characters is one that I believe isn't rivalled by many.
Her writing manages to paint a delicate, yet sometimes chaotic in the climactic moments, artwork that remains with you even after you've finished reading the third instalment of the series.
While the Opal Cowan books also manage to be as intriguing and well received as the Study series, I find myself much more compelled to read when Yelena and Valek are involved more frequently.
The only thing I could ask for is that I didn't have to wait so long for her next book.

      Comments about Fire Study:

Enter the original characters of the Opal magician series. A compleling novel with a younger Yelena just touching upon her mistical abilities, aptitudes that transform her life, and open doors for others to wish to use her to further their power. A compelling gripping novel with the edge of seat action the author has mastered to perfection.

      Maria V. Snyder

Meteorologist turned novelist, Maria's been writing fantasy and science fiction since she was bored at work and needed something creative to do. A dozen novels and numerous short stories later, Maria's learned a thing or three about writing. She’s been on the New York Times bestseller list, won a half-dozen awards, and has earned her MA degree in Writing from Seton Hill University where she's been happily sharing her knowledge with the current crop of MFA students.

She also enjoys creating new worlds where horses and swords rule, 'cause let's face it, they're cool, although she's been known to trap her poor characters in a giant metal cube and let them figure out how to get out.
