This issue of Feminist Review is an exploration of the way feminist ideas appear in popular forms, especially feminist novels and television. Contributors explore the ways in which well-known feminist novelists such as Angela Carter, Marge Piercy and Christa Wolf have handled feminist ideas; consider writing by Asian and Afro-Caribbean women in Britain ; and discuss the popular genres that have been taken up by feminist writers: science fiction, detective stories, lesbian romance and stories for teenagers. Published in collaboration with the women of the German magazine Das Argument . These women are involved in publishing German translations of feminist novels, especially American detective stories, and are working with women in the former GDR on East German and Third World women writers. Das Argument will publish the same collection of articles in a special issue entitled Literaische FrauenRaschlage .
