Exploring Interpersonal Trust in the Entrepreneurial Venture uses a qualitative and processual model of trust, developed over three separate yet related field studies, to unpack empirically some of trust's complexity as it manifests itself in emerging organisations.
The book articulates explicit ontological and epistemological positions, enabling the development of a methodological 'principle of demonstrable applicability'. Structuring the book in this way, Mark R. Dibben adopts process metaphysics to examine trust development. He explains and develops a processual approach derived from the philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead, thereby providing a view that is in contrast to the scientific, normative approach to organisational study that remains the dominant research paradigm in both management and entrepreneurship.
