"Body confidence does not come from trying to achieve the perfect body, it comes from embracing the one you've already got."

This is the book for every woman who hates the way her body looks, and derides herself for not having the perfect figure. It is for those who have allowed those negative and harmful thoughts to affect their self-confidence and inform their everyday behaviour.

Once a body builder with a lean, toned and taut figure, Taryn's obsession with muscle definition and the sleek lines of her body came with the territory of her job. Pregnancy and motherhood stole the identity she was familiar with and left her with feelings of self-loathing and repulsion that affected the way she thought about herself.

After contemplating cosmetic surgery to reclaim the body she wanted, Taryn had an epiphany. If she went ahead with the surgery, how would she teach her daughter to love and respect her own body if she couldn't do the same? Taryn's greatest challenge came next. How would she learn to love her body and transform the hatred she felt into something positive? Her journey to acceptance of her womanly figure and celebration of her femininity has been publicly chartered. Here she shares her story to help harness and facilitate positive body image activism for all women.

Admittedly I was in the perfect mindset to read this book and see Taryn's movie - I was ready to embrace my body. Her documentary and this book solidified where I was already heading and quite literally changed my life. I've learnt to accept my body and no longer hate myself for things I simply can't change. I appreciate all the wonderful things my body can do and acknowledge how lucky I am to have full ability. Letting go of all the negative thoughts about my physical appearance seemed to open up space in my brain to focus on issues that actually matter. I'm now studying at uni, working hard in the community and loving my family more fully. This book helped me reach that mindset

It is as good if not better than any self help book out there. It helps women of all ages to accept themselves and have a positive happy future. You can really identify with the writer and see that she is just like every woman. She has written this to help women and empower them. A must read for all women.

Maybe i am dissapointed with this book becasue i expected something else. I thought it would be about a woman who had struggled with body image from a young age and learnt how to deal with it and accept herself for what she is. But it seemed more to me to be about a woman who wasnt happy with her body after 3 pregnancies. Found no help or inspiration in any of her words.
