The ideas behind economic democracy and financial participation are not new--the first International Congress on profit-sharing met in Paris in 1889. D'Art draws on the results of research carried out in the United States, Sweden, Denmark, and Ireland, and contrasts an individualist approach to economic democracy with a collectivist approach. The result is a comparative international analysis of financial participation at both a theoretical and practical level.
