  • GROWING INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION OF AND APPRECIATION FOR INUIT ART: Cape Dorset art is widely circulated in Canada via stamps, sculptures, and currency. There has been increasing international interest in Inuit art and the Cape Dorset artistic community in recent years, with Inuit artist Shuvinai Ashoona earning special mention at the Venice Biennale in 2022, coverage by the New York Times, and the Tate Modern in London launching an acquisition fund for Inuit art.

  • INUIT-AUTHORED BOOK: All contributors except for one are Inuit. The book's editor, Emily Henderson, is Inuk and was recently named the McMichael's associate curator of Indigenous art and culture. Juno-winning Inuit folk music artist Susan Aglukark is one of the contributors to this book.

  • FIRST PUBLICATION FOCUSED ON DRAWINGS: Unlike previous publications (In Cape Dorset We Do It This Way: Three Decades of Inuit Printmaking, 1991; Strange Scenes: Early Cape Dorset Drawings, 1993; Cape Dorset Prints: A Retrospective Fifty Years of Printmaking at the Kinngait Studios, 2007), this publication is focused only on the drawings collection. The Winnipeg Art Gallery's exhibition catalogue INUA (for the largest contemporary Inuit art collection in the world) never went into the trade market this will be more accessible to those interested in Inuit art.

  • COMPANION PIECE TO AN EXHIBIT AT THE MCMICHAEL CANADIAN ART COLLECTION: This book is coming together synchronously with an exhibit that opens in February 2025 and that will be ongoing. It is considered a standalone companion piece rather than a comprehensive catalogue. A small condensed exhibit will travel to Iqaluit or Glenbow (dates TBD).

  • DIGITIZATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORTED BY THE WORK OF EDWARD BURTYNSKY:story of this undertaking was covered by the Globe & Mail.
