After a bad breakup that left her reeling and the death of her beloved grandmother, Lola fled to the little Cornish village of Polcarrow to lick her wounds and pursue her lifelong dream of running her own bakery. Drawn there by a mysterious note in her grandmother's recipe book, before long Lola's cafe is the beating heart of the community. With best friend Freya, artistic biker Angelo and Polcarrow's unofficial 'grandad' Alf by her side, Lola is ready to embrace single life and throws herself into organising the village's Christmas celebrations and the small matter of a Christmas tree made entirely from lobster pots...! That is, until Polcarrow's rather handsome vicar Tristan crashes into her life and makes Lola reconsider everything.

But finding love in Polcarrow has spanned many a generation for Lola's family. The unexpected arrival of her grandmother's belongings brings a tragic story of love and loss to Lola's doorstep. Through her letters and diary entries, Lola finds out that Polcarrow held a secret place in her grandmother's heart, but was the cause of a whole lot of pain for someone else close to her. With Christmas to prepare for and the sudden return of Tristan's overbearing ex, who has every intention of settling in Polcarrow and rekindling what they previously had, will love prosper for Lola and Tristan this Christmas or is heartbreak in Polcarrow set to repeat itself once more?
