Comments about Breath of Fire:
I'm somewhat ambivalent about this book. I bought the first book in this series (A Promise of Fire) because I'd read the reviews and I found the idea of having a book set with a Greek mythological theme as something a bit different. I bought 'Breath of Fire' to see how the story progressed. It just didn't click with me. The Greek mythology was still there, the world building was still there, as was the action and adventure, but I just found it a bit annoying. Reading 'Breath of Fire' was like watching those horror movies where the lights go out and (of course) the characters have to go down to the basement, and (of course) they split up and (of course) nasty things happened to them. This book had my eyes rolling in the same way- of course this is dangerous and we're not going to survive and we're going to do it anyway.
I found the two lead characters as annoying as they were in the first book- I'm still not at all comfortable with THAT plot line!
If romance is your thing, this book has plenty (though probably not a book to read on public transport!), but IMO it got in the way of the potential this book had.
