Heat transfer phenomena involving boiling and condensation are an important aspect of engineering in the power and process industries. This book, aimed at final year undergraduates and graduate students in mechanical or chemical engineering, deals with these phenomena in detail. The first part of the book describes gas-liquid two-phase flow, as a necessary preliminary to the later discussion of heat transfer and changes of phase. A detailed section on calculation methods shows how theory can be put to practical use, and there are also descriptions of some of the equipment and plant used in the process and power industries.

'The 25 chapters cover a very wide variety of topics so that, together with its extensive bibliography, the book provides a useful introduction to these very real problems in industrial heat transfer.' Contemporary Physics 'The best text on two-phase flow for undergraduate use. It presents the basic facts of two-phase flow in a concise form, unencumbered with excessive detail. It is an excellent compilation of useful correlations which will prove invaluable for design purposes. The publication of this book will be welcomed by all those concerned with two-phase flow and in particular by those who teach the subject.' Journal of Fluid Mechanics 'it does a very good job of providing clear and concise explanations of the material and topics covered ... Undoubtedly a valuable text for undergraduates, providing easily digestible material on boiling and condensation.' Martyn S. Ray, Developments in Chemical Engineering (Vol. 15, No. 1,) March 1992
