A lost story from Sylvia Plath<\/strong><\/p>\n

A recently discovered short story by Sylvia Plath is due to be published latest this month, more than 55 years after her death.\u00a0 Faber will be publishing the short story as part of a Faber Stories series which will celebrate the company’s 90th anniversary. (Pssst! Quick sidebar: the Faber Stories series will also include a brand new Sally Rooney story called Mr Salary<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n

The title of Sylvia Plath’s short story is Mary Ventura and the Ninth Kingdom <\/em>and it was written in 1952 when Sylvia Plath was just 20 years old and studying at Smith College. Plath reportedly described it as a “vague symbolic tale” and while she did submit the story for publication on Mademoiselle magazine. It was not accepted and several years later Plath revisited the short story, changing the title and revising it to be less sinister than the original.\u00a0 This will be the first publication of the original version.<\/p>\n
