While editor-in-chief (and later as publisher and chairman) he is credited with leading the expansion of Marvel Comics into the large multimedia corporation we know today &#8211; a true cultural phenomenon.<\/p>\n<p>A prolific writer, Stan Lee is known creating relatable characters. In the 1960s and 70s this was what set his work apart. His characters were more flawed and nuanced, his stories more socially relevant than was common in comic books of the time. In 1971 he pushed censorship boundaries by including an anti-drug storyline in &#8220;The Amazing Spiderman&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-84442 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.booktopia.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Are-you-a-crime-fiction-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"665\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The cultural impact of Stan Lee&#8217;s work is undeniable &#8211; if it is difficult to imagine what the entertainment industry would even look like today without his work.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic-book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people&#8217;s lives. Without it they might go off the deep end. His creative process with artists has become known as \u201cThe Marvel Method.\u201d His characters have been immortalised time and time again on both page and screen.
