BAD\u00a0Sydney Crime Writers Festival is back for it’s second year!<\/p>\n

2017\u00a0was the inaugural year for the festival, which is held at the Justice & Police Museum in partnership with the Sydney Living Museums.<\/p>\n

This year BAD is back by popular demand, with a packed program and a brand new award. The Danger Prize will be awarded for the first time at the Opening Night event this evening, the 31st of August.<\/p>\n

The Prize honours\u00a0the best TV drama, book or film about Sydney and crime. The prize is kindly sponsored by the Daily Telegraph, Prohibition Gin Co., Rocks Brewing and Urban Winery Sydney.<\/p>\n

The Danger Prize Shortlist:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Fatalist<\/em><\/a> by Campbell McConachie \u2013 fascinating biography of serial killer and psychopath Lindsey Rose, now in Goulburn Supermax.<\/p>\n

The Suitcase Baby<\/em><\/a> by Tanya Bretherton \u2013 moving account of infanticide in Sydney in the 1920s.<\/p>\n

Blue Murder: Killer Cop<\/em>, dir. Michael Jenkins \u2013 energetic if often fictionalised story of the last part of Roger Rogerson\u2019s career.<\/p>\n

Last King of the Cross<\/em><\/a> by John Ibrahim \u2013 memoir of successful nightclub entrepreneur that casts light into some dark corners.<\/p>\n

The Opening Night event will also feature guest speaker, Laurie Oaks, a Trivia Quiz hosted by bestselling author Candice Fox, plus special guest Carl Synnerdahl – the former bank robber and prison escapee who who famously posed as a blind man and whose\u00a0story\u00a0was the inspiration for the 1981 film Hookwinked<\/em>, staring John Hargraves and Judy Davis.<\/p>\n
