Martin will publish a new Game of Thrones book this year!!!<\/p>\n<p>Now that I have your attention, allow me to explain further. The new book, which will be published in November, will not be <em>The Winds of Winter<\/em> (the long awaited sixth book in the Song of Ice and Fire series).<\/p>\n<p>For many people, this news may be considered somewhat \u2026. disappointing. But to any enraged fans out there currently gnashing their teeth and pulling out their hair, I have two words for you. And those words are &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>FIRE!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>and<\/p>\n<p><strong>BLOOD!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yep, that\u2019s right! The title of the new book will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.booktopia.com.au\/fire-and-blood-george-r-r-martin\/prod9780008307738.html?utm_source=blog.booktopia.com.au&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=George%20R.R.%20Martin%20to%20release%20new%20Game%20of%20Thrones%20book\"><em>Fire and Blood<\/em><\/a>. It will be set 300 years before the Song of Ice and Fire series and it will detail the conquest that ultimately united the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros under Targaryen rule.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what the man himself has to say about his upcoming book\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNo, winter is not coming\u2026 not in 2018, at least. You\u2019re going to have to keep waiting for THE WINDS OF WINTER. You will, however, be able to return to Westeros this year,\u201d<\/em> said George R. R. Martin.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI do want to stress\u2026 indeed, I want to shout\u2026 that FIRE &amp; BLOOD is not a novel. This is not a traditional narrative and was never intended to be\u2026 let\u2019s call this one \u2018imaginary history\u2019 instead. The essential point being the \u2018history\u2019 part. I love reading popular histories myself, and that\u2019s what I was aiming for here\u2026 As for me, I\u2019m returning once again to THE WINDS OF WINTER.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So there you have it! We may not be getting <em>The Winds of Winter<\/em> just yet (fingers crossed for next year?) but what we are getting is 640 pages of the notoriously kickass, occasionally incestuous and oftimes insane Targaryen family! And also dragons. There will be dragons! Plus the book will contain over 75 completely new black and white Illustrations by artist Doug Wheatley.
