This one\u2019s called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.booktopia.com.au\/here-we-are-oliver-jeffers\/prod9780008266165.html\"><em>Here We Are: Notes For Living on Planet Earth.\u00a0<\/em> <\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.booktopia.com.au\/here-we-are-oliver-jeffers\/prod9780008266165.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-72556\" title=\"Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.booktopia.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/jeffers-in-blog.jpg\" alt=\"Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers\" width=\"664\" height=\"279\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What we know is that <em>Here We Are<\/em> was inspired by the birth of Jeffers\u2019 son, Harland, having told <em>Entertainment Weekly<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333300;\">\u201cIt started without me knowing what it [the book] was. I took my son home from the hospital [after he was born], and as we walked into the apartment, I kind of started giving the tour of a classic New York one-bedroom apartment, jokingly. Like, \u201cWell, here we are. This is where you live.\u201d I brought him into the kitchen and said, \u201cThis is the kitchen. This is where we prepare the food. Yeah, you haven\u2019t really eaten anything ever before, so food is what fuels you and it goes into your stomach\u2026 we\u2019ll get there&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333300;\">And as we were walking around the neighborhood over the next couple weeks and months, I was just explaining things to him. The explaining was as much for my benefit as it was for his, because obviously, he didn\u2019t understand a word I said.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.booktopia.com.au\/here-we-are-oliver-jeffers\/prod9780008266165.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-72567\" title=\"Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.booktopia.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/16_17_Sky.jpg\" alt=\"Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers\" width=\"662\" height=\"392\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Australian-born, NY-based Jeffers was also inspired by political changes, having told <em>The Bookseller,<\/em> \u201cAs the world started to change &#8211; because the past two years have been very politically interesting and there\u2019s been a lot of negativity that\u2019s been used as fuel &#8211; it became more than just a set of guidelines for new parents; it became a set of reminders about the extremely basic things that make us human.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Here We Are<\/em>\u00a0 is a moving and thought-provoking book in which Jeffers takes the reader on a journey through a series of heartfelt notes introducing planet Earth.
