Forgo the square. I know that it’s tempting because the default Instagram crop is a square, but you can get so much more in your frame if you take the photo in full format. You can always crop it later…

2. Lose the zoom. When you use iPhone’s zoom feature, the image quality gets really diminished. It’s much better to take the photo from as close as you can get, and then cropping later if you want it to be closer.

3. Follow the light. Lighting is everything when it comes to photos. When taking landscape photos, golden hour (the time just before sunset and right after sunrise) is my favorite time to capture. It’s also great for selfies, but we talk about that in a different chapter!

4. Play with Perspective. Scenery, whether it’s a beach, waterfall, or side street can be beautiful all by themselves. But if you really want to capture the scale of what you’re shooting, you should add yourself or your friend to the photo! A regular size or small person next to a big monument or an even bigger part of the landscape can be majestic. Also, remember to look up. Trees, buildings, and mountains have a much different point of view from the ground up.

Praise

“Aimee has an incredible ability to capture simple, everyday moments and vault them to next-level chic.
