The winners for the 2016\u00a0Children\u2019s Book Council of Australia<\/a> (CBCA) Book of the Year Awards have been announced.<\/p>\n

Professor Margot Hillel, Chair of the CBCA National Board says, \u201cIt\u2019s wonderful for our much-loved authors and illustrators to be acknowledged for their work, and we\u2019re thrilled to see new writers in the mix across all categories.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year marked the 70th anniversary of the awards, and they continue to reflect the strength and diversity of Australian authors and illustrators. Prizes for the winning and honour books are funded\u00a0by the CBCA Awards Foundation.<\/p>\n

Robert Ingpen was acknowledged with a Lifetime Achievement Award. He has written and illustrated more than 100 books. Look at his beautifully illustrated classics here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the winners now announced, Children\u2019s Book Week begins, with activities ensuing across the country in libraries, schools and communities. This year’s theme is\u00a0Australia! Story Country<\/em>.<\/p>\n
