To begin with why don\u2019t you tell us a little bit about yourself – where were you born? Raised? Schooled?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I was born in Melbourne, grew up on the green fringe of the city and lived in the mud brick house that we built on the edge of the river. My sister and I went to Eltham High.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve travelled overseas and lived around Melbourne\u2019s North since, but people from our neck of the woods tend to return, as we have.<\/p>\n

What did you want to be when you were twelve, eighteen and thirty? And why?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A writer. An Oscar winning film director. A freelance education writer who got paid exceedingly well for very flexible hours from home (with awesome maternity leave and super). All pipe dreams, except, it turns out, the first.<\/p>\n

What strongly held belief did you have at eighteen that you do not have now?<\/strong><\/p>\n

That I knew everything. That I could have and do and be anything and everything I wanted, all at the same time. The second came crashing down around the same time as I gave birth \u2013 things aren’t as equal for women as my eighteen year old self believed. The first has been incremental.<\/p>\n
