To begin with why don\u2019t you tell us a little bit about yourself &#8211; where were you raised?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I grew up on Sydney\u2019s southern beaches.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. What did you want to be when you were twelve, eighteen and thirty? And why?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ever since I started baking with my grandmother when I was about eight years old, I\u2019ve always had a love for cooking and magazines. After college I was lucky enough to get a job in the Women\u2019s Weekly test kitchen and that was really where things really started. I launched my magazine when I was in my early thirties, so I guess I\u2019ve always been lucky enough to do what I love.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>3. What strongly held belief did you have at eighteen that you do not have now?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My Mum always told me, \u201cwhere there is a will, there is a way!\u201d \u2013 I like to think I still believe that, although some things are definitely more difficult than others!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51608\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.booktopia.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/donna-hay-breakfast.jpg\" alt=\"Donna Hay breakfast\" width=\"468\" height=\"464\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>4. What big event<\/strong><strong>s in your life or the world around you most influenced your philosophies on food?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Becoming a mum and cooking for my two young boys has influenced how I eat at home, plus as I\u2019m so busy all the time I have to I plan ahead! I always try to ensure they have healthy, balanced options for their lunchboxes and plenty of wholesome snacks in the freezer that we can defrost. I often bake a batch of healthy muffins or make up some bliss balls on the weekend, so they can have then during the week. We still always have room for treats, though. The boys love to cook with me, too \u2013 food is so much about sharing and eating together.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>5. What is a dish you wouldn\u2019t eat as a child that you love now?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I think the eight-year-old me would definitely not be pleased with the green smoothie I have every day! Every morning I make up a smoothie with kale, watercress, coconut water and spinach that I drink throughout the day in the office \u2013 I think you\u2019d be hard-pressed to convince any child to drink that!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51581\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.booktopia.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/donna-hay-3a.jpg\" alt=\"Donna Hay 3a\" width=\"468\" height=\"468\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>6. Please tell us about your latest book\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.booktopia.com.au\/life-in-balance-donna-hay\/prod9781460750322.html\" target=\"_blank\">Life In Balance<\/a><\/em> is all about helping people embrace a fresher approach to eating. If you had to highlight one recipe from the book, what would it be?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There\u2019s an amazing raw chocolate peanut butter slice that I can\u2019t stop making! It\u2019s made with dates, almond and cacao and has no refined sugar so it\u2019s a better option when you\u2019re looking for a sweet fix.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51582\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.booktopia.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/donna-hay-5.jpg\" alt=\"Donna Hay 5\" width=\"468\" height=\"467\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>8. Whom do you most admire and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anyone who dares to be different, creative, or make the world a better place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>9. Many people set themselves very ambitious goals. What are yours?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I\u2019m not really much of a goal setter! I\u2019ve been very busy this year as I\u2019ve been working hard on building my brand and there are some exciting projects in the works. I\u2019m always looking towards the next thing. Personally I\u2019m trying to work through a bit of a bucket list \u2013 I\u2019d love to do the Sydney to Hobart yacht race one day!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>10. What advice do you give aspiring home cooks?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you need to build your confidence in the kitchen, start simple, pick a classic recipe and go from there. Then, don\u2019t be afraid to try new recipes or experiment with new ingredients.
