John Flanagan grew up in Sydney, Australia hoping to be a writer. It wasn\u2019t until he wrote a highly uncomplimentary poem about a senior executive at the agency where he worked, however, that his talent was revealed.<\/p>\n

John Flanagan\u2019s Ranger\u2019s Apprentice<\/em> series originally comprised twenty short stories, which John wrote to encourage his twelve-year-old son, Michael, to enjoy reading. Ten years after writing them he decided to turn them into a novel to\u00a0publish.<\/p>\n

The series has come a long way since then, having been on The New York Times Best Seller list for over 80 weeks, with over 5 million copies being sold in the US alone.<\/p>\n
