In a healthy culture, &#8220;work gets done because it is important and desired, not because a surveillance system insisted,&#8221; he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"block-2a8b1550-fd4c-472f-a45a-e89d0245c343\"><strong>Significant Work Creates Human Value<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Central to this is his idea that significant work is work \u201con the edge\u201d, with high stakes and high trust. It is the opposite of the industrialist\u2019s race to the bottom, the race of productivity \u2013 of more for less. Significant work, in contrast, \u201cis the work that creates human value as we connect with and respect the individuals who create it,\u201d Godin says in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booktopia.com.au\/the-song-of-significance-seth-godin\/book\/9780241655542.html?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=blog+post&amp;utm_campaign=booktopia_sethgodin&amp;utm_content=article\">The Song of Significance<\/a><\/em>.<br><br>He says \u201cWork is an expression of our energy and our dreams. He says others have argued that it\u2019s possible to be customer-centric, using customer service as a proxy for profits. Whereas, he argues, significant organisations are team-centric.<br><br>He says the goal of these organisations is to make a change happen and to do that with (and for) a group of people who care about making an impact.<br>\u201cThe purpose of the beehive isn\u2019t to make honey; honey is the by-product of a healthy hive,\u201d he says.
