The longlist<\/a><\/strong> for the 2022 Miles Franklin Literary Award has just been revealed, with authors such as Jennifer Down, Briohny Doyle and Alice Pung all making the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The $60,000 prize, which is considered Australia’s most prestigious for literature, was introduced in 1957 to celebrate books that tell stories of Australian life. Previous winners include Amanda Lohrey, Tara June Winch, Peter Carey and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richard Neville, chair of judges and State Library of NSW Mitchell Librarian, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis year\u2019s longlist, drawn from a robust pool of entries, reflects the thematic richness and the formal adventurousness of the contemporary Australian novel, as our writers respond to our times. Diverse in every sense, it extends from works of realism to novels in a more experimental vein, proving that the nation\u2019s story-tellers are continuing to test the boundaries of what the novel can do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
