It\u2019s been two years since book one in the Crescent City series, House of Earth and Blood<\/em> \u2013 what was your favourite part of returning to this world?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

SJM:<\/strong> I couldn\u2019t wait to get back to writing about Crescent City. We got to know Bryce and Hunt pretty well in book one, but I loved getting to spend more time with the rest of the crew. And of course I also loved . . . intensifying Bryce and Hunt\u2019s relationship!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you love most about your heroine, Bryce Quinlan?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SJM:<\/strong> Her snarky sense of humor is so much fun to write \u2013 and her Starlight Fancy horse collection!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world of Crescent City is much more modern than the world of A Court of Thorns and Roses \u2013 what were the best things and the challenges of world building?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SJM:<\/strong> The best was modern cursing, it\u2019s much easier to use a familiar curse than try to create new ones from scratch. The biggest challenge was managing the flow of information in a world of cell phones and text messages. I had to work around the modern technology to make sure information was revealed at the right pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What House would you be in if you were in Crescent City?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SJM:<\/strong> House of Flame and Shadow, no question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The covers in this series are amazingly intricate. How involved are you in the cover design process?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SJM:<\/strong> Isn\u2019t Carlos Quevedo an absolute god? Even his early sketches always take my breath away. I get to see the cover at various steps along the way, and it\u2019s always super fun to watch Carlos add in more and more little details and Easter eggs at each step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s your favourite detail in the House of Sky and Breath<\/em> cover?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SJM:<\/strong> There\u2019s so many fun details in there, but my favourite is definitely Hunt\u2019s abs!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you could have a career other than writing, what would it be?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SJM:<\/strong> I absolutely love flowers\u2014beautiful flowers always bring me so much joy and calm and peace. I think I would have loved being a florist and bringing those vibes into other people\u2019s lives, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
