The 2021 Ned Kelly shortlists were revealed yesterday, with authors such as Garry Disher, Sulari Gentill, Jane Harper, J. P. Pomare, Michael Robotham and more all vying for top honours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year marks the 26th year of the The Ned Kelly Awards, Australia\u2019s most prestigious celebration of crime fiction and true crime writing (proudly sponsored by Booktopia). The judges found themselves picking nominees from 149 entries \u2014 a record fifty percent increase on previous years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Australian Crime Writers Association chair Robert Goodman said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018There are plenty of familiar names among the best crime fiction and true crime entries but also an exciting crop of new voices across all categories, particularly those in contention for the Best Debut Crime Fiction Award.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
