Tell us about A Court of Silver Flames<\/em>!<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A Court of Silver Flames<\/em> is Nesta\u2019s story\u2014if you\u2019ve read the previous books in the Court of Thorns and Roses series<\/strong><\/a>, you know that Nesta is a spitfire! I love writing her. I don\u2019t want to give away too much about the book, but there\u2019s lots of action, some new characters, and plenty of scenes to steam up the windows.<\/p>\n

In three words, what can readers expect from the book?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Nesta\u2019s enemies\u2019 destruction.<\/p>\n\n\n

One thing readers adore about your books is their distinct focus on complex heroines. When writing these women, what\u2019s important to you in creating a heroine people want to root for?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

There are all kinds of women in the world, and I want everyone to be able to find pieces of themselves in my books. So a big part of it is making sure these women are multi-faceted enough to seem both real and sympathetic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sex-positivity and equality seem to be crucial for the romances in your books. Can you talk more about that? What do you hope that accomplishes for your readers?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We have a lot of work to do in our own world regarding sex-positivity and equality, so I want to show my readers a world where this is better, and where it\u2019s possible. There\u2019s so much shame around sex in our world\u2014no one should be made to feel embarrassed or wrong about liking sex, or how they like their sex, or who they like to have it with. It\u2019s natural. With consenting partners, sex is healthy and fun and there\u2019s nothing wrong with that. It\u2019s beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s talk about this beautiful cover! Can you tell us what involvement you had in the design process and what that was like for you?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m lucky to work with a publisher who values my input on covers. We found a pair of tattoo artists who did such a beautiful job on the reissues of the previous books and on this new book\u2014their art is so dynamic and just feels alive. We went back and forth a bit on what the mask should look like, and I\u2019m really happy with where we landed: badass and sexy and creepy and mysterious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
