The 2020 Ned Kelly Awards shortlists were revealed today, with authors such as Christian White, Dervla McTiernan, Pip Drysdale and Dan Box all enjoying a nomination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ned Kelly Awards are an initiative of the Australian Crime Writers Association, of which Booktopia is a proud sponsor. They recognise the finest of Australian crime writing each year, and are awarded in the categories of best fiction, first fiction and true crime, in addition to an international writers’ category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Australian Crime Writers Association chair Robert Goodman praised the quality of local crime writing and the prolific numbers of entries in the 2020 awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018This is not just evident in the number of submissions but the diversity and quality of the entries,’ he said. \u2018Fiction entries include page turning thrillers, police procedurals, lone detectives and dirty dealings with many fascinating characters across a range of vividly portrayed settings.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
