Escaping between the pages of a good book doesn’t only bring a smile to one’s face but it’s also therapeutic. A study conducted by the University of Sussex found that reading a book lowered stress levels better than all the other activities tested (including listening to music, having a cup of tea, going for a walk and playing video games).

Australian Reading Hour is important to me because it is an opportunity to promote reading to those who don’t currently read at all and also an opportunity to remind those of us who love reading that we should make time to enjoy books without feeling guilty.
