BookTok has exploded with popularity, and it’s how many people find their newest books. Olivia Mattiske, AKA @squivreads tells us the latest books she has discovered through the magical world of BookTok.

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

“The hype around is definitely well-deserved. Featuring a small-town romance with a grumpy x sunshine dynamic, Things We Never Got Over follows Naomi as she navigates life after a series of bumps and turns. This book won’t fail to make you feel all the emotions, I know I did!”

Blindsided by Amy Daws

“After seeing her blow up on TikTok, I recently binged the majority of Amy Daw’s backlist, and I can confidently say that Blindsided is my favourite of her books. This book as a whole was just so adorable. Featuring a friends-to-lovers romance between a plus-sized cat-loving woman, and a hot Scottish football player, this book is easily one of my favourite sports romance books.”

From Lukov With Love by Mariana Zapata

“Since initially reading From Lukov With Love, I’ve done multiple re-reads. The book is a slow-burn romance, centering around two-figure skating rivals who end up partnering together. Not only did I feel our main character, Jasmine, was super relatable, but the banter and quips in this book were just *chef’s kiss*.”

Twisted Hate by Ana Huang

“Whilst it can be read as a stand-alone, Twisted Hate is the third book in Ana Huang’s Twisted series. I discovered this series shortly after joining BookTok and I am incredibly glad I did. Twisted Hate has one of the best enemies-to-lovers tropes that I’ve ever read, not only this but it also includes the best friend’s brother trope – yet another of my favourites! “

Redeemed by Lauren Asher

“This book had me feeling all the emotions under the sun. There were times when I laughed, cried, and swooned. It’s book four in Lauren Asher’s Dirty Air formula 1 romance series, however, it can be read as a standalone. Beginning as a fake dating scenario with a grumpy x sunshine dynamic, the relationship between the main characters in this book was just so wholesome and I loved seeing them grow together.”

Hate by Tate James

“On the darker end of the romance spectrum, Tate James is an Aussie author that I discovered when she blew up on romance BookTok. My favourite of her series is definitely the Madison Kate series, starting with Hate as book one in the quartet. Packed to the brim with wit, suspense, sizzling scenes, and James’s brutal cliff-hangers, Hate is a reverse harem romance you won’t want to miss. “

It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey

“Like everyone on BookTok, I also fell in love with It Happened One Summer. Inspired by Schitt’s Creek, the book follows our main character Piper, a socialite, as she finds herself stuck in the small town where she was born after a fall from grace. With a grumpy and insanely attractive crab-fisher love interest, and lovable side characters, It Happened One Summer should definitely be a high priority on your to-be-read list.”
